Bao Tien Cao, 28, was found dead on June 18th, 2010.
Cao was the Edmonton metro area's sixth homicide victim of the year.

The investigation into the death of Bao Tien Cao began when Fort Saskatchewan RCMP first got a call, at approximately 5:00 p.m. on June 18th, 2010, about a male body found in the ditch along Range Road 230, north of Township Road 552, just north of Edmonton.

Arriving officers confirmed the man was dead and promptly secured the area.
The Fort Saskatchewan Serious Crimes Branch - Major Crime Unit took over the investigation, assisted by the Edmonton RCMP Forensic Identification Section, Police Dog Services and civilian search and rescue agencies.
The body was taken to the Provincial Medical Examiners Office in Edmonton and police waited for an autopsy scheduled for June 21st to be completed to identify the man and determine the course of their investigation.

It was not immediately known how long the body had been at the location.
Meanwhile, police treated the death as suspicious and asked those with information to call the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP at 780-992-6100 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
On June 23rd RCMP announced they had launched a homicide investigation in connection with the death of 28-year-old Bao Tien Cao.
Cao, a Prince George, British Columbia resident, had been visiting family in Edmonton and was last seen alive in the Alberta city on June 16th.
Police withheld the cause of death for investigative purposes but said the autopsy confirmed Cao was the victim of a homicide.
The RCMP K Division Major Crime Unit in Edmonton now leads the investigation.
Police also renewed their appeal to the public for information.
