Mohammad Bashir Khan, 56, was stabbed to death on May 18th, 2010.

Bashir Khan was Edmonton's sixth homicide victim of the year.

A 17-year-old male, who cannot be identified under provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with second-degree murder, robbery and a weapon-related offence.

The young offender was also charged with two robbery offences in connection with a pair of other incidents.

After catching up on cold cases for two months, homicide detectives found themselves dealing with a second murder in as many days after officers were called to a north-end location at about 4:25 a.m. on May 18th, 2010 in connection with a weapons complaint.

When police arrived outside the All Hours Steak Pizza & Donair restaurant at 11922 129 Avenue they found a man suffering serious stab wounds.

Despite being rushed by ambulance with police escort to the Royal Alexandra Hospital trauma centre, the man – described as "middle-aged" – was pronounced dead on arrival.

After police interviewed the man who made the initial 911 call, investigators hit the street.

The canine unit followed a bloodtrail through area yards that led to a duplex – reportedly the scene of an all-night party – at 123rd Street and 128th Avenue.

A shirtless but handcuffed man was taken from the house at about 7 a.m. One neighbour said the man appeared disoriented when led away, as if he had just been awoken.

"He told the young man that he was being arrested for murder," said the neighbour who overheard the officer taking the man into custody.

(CTV Edmonton prudently obscurred the man's face during broadcast of their exclusive footage as he was later revealed to be a young offender).

Police cordoned off 129th Avenue from 119th Street to 123rd Street for most of the day. Residents were canvassed and streets and alleys were scoured for clues.
