Landis Tyson Stick, 24, died of a stab wound on February 19th, 2009.


Stick was Edmonton's fifth homicide victim of the year.


Case status is open and active.



Police continue to investigate a fatal stabbing along the Avenue of Nations.


Emergency services were called at about 1:30 a.m. February 19th, 2009 after a man was found stabbed in the abdomen outside the Trinity B apartment building at 10720 104 Street.


The victim was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital trauma centre where he was first listed in critical and unstable condition.


Despite medical intervention, the man died. Homicide detectives then took over the case.

No details regarding the man's identity were immediately released, with investigators only commenting that he was well known to them.

"The call was reported to us as trouble not known," downtown division Staff Sgt. Graham Hogg told media. Police said they first responded after a motorist saw a man lying on the boulevard.


"It is now considered a homicide," Hogg said.

Police blocked off 104 Street north of 107 Avenue as they searched for clues.

An autopsy confirmed the victim was 24-year-old Landis Tyson Stick of Onion Lake, Saskatchewan. The medical examiner concluded that his cause of death was a stab wound.


No suspects in his murder have been identified.

Landis Stick's stabbing death was latest instance of homicide along the violence-plagued strip – also known as the Avenue of Nations.
