Paramedics attended to one woman with a slashed throat and another with a stab wound to the chest. Both injuries were at the time considered possibly life-threatening.

Officers were told of a third injured woman who fled the home. She was found several blocks away at 111th Street and 51st Avenue, suffering from wounds to her hand and arm. Two women were taken to hospital, with one listed in critical condition and the other stable. The third woman remained in custody.

Police believe the women, in their mid to late 20s, were known to each other and were the only ones involved in the fight. Investigators said from the outset they were not looking for any other suspects.

Twenty-four hours after the stabbing, one woman remained in "very critical condition" with doctors saying the outlook wasn't good.

At the point, police charged 25-year-old Tamara Lynn O'Neil with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and assault with a weapon.

Police have not ruled out upgrading the charges should the one woman not recover from her injuries.
