Officers were called to 11318 83 Street around 9:20 a.m. on May 20th, 2009 after the dead body of a woman in her 40s was discovered in a home.
Crime scene tape quickly surrounded the property as officers investigated.
Police initially called the death suspicious as they weren't sure how the woman died.
"We don't know and it's too hard for us to say if there is any foul play or anything," veteran homicide Det. Bill Clark told media.
"We're going to be having our I-dent guys come and just take the normal stuff we do at a preliminary investigation which would be photographs and then we'll be calling the medical examiner.
“There are people that came over to check on her so we're just talking to them, everybody is being co-operative,” Clark added.
Investigators questioned residents of the two-storey three-suite rental property, including a man who was home at the time of the initial call to police. Officers also canvassed the neighbourhood.
"What looks to have happened is that a friend of the female went to the house to check on her welfare," a police spokeman later said.
"And, when that individual came to the house, it was then discovered that she was deceased."
The woman's body was removed at about 1:00 p.m. Det. Clark later announced an autopsy indicated the woman's death was not the result of foul play.
"It's now ruled non-criminal. It's no longer a police investigation and we have no foul play so it's now a closed investigation," Clark said.
No further details were released.
Earlier in the day, area neighbours told media there had been trouble at the home before.
Alvin Vollrath, a basement tenant, said he only knew two other occupants at the house, a caretaking couple, who lived upstairs.
Vollrath lived alone in the downstairs unit for about three months prior to the day's incident.
