Melvin Fred Beaulieu, 31, died from a knife wound to the chest on February 12th, 2009.
Beaulieu was Edmonton's fourth homicide victim of the year.

A man was discovered dead in an apartment suite at 12725 81 Street just after 6 p.m. February 12th, 2009.
Insp. Joel Whittaker told media a fight had broken out between two men in a basement suite. The altercation took place during a drinking party attended by four or five people.
When police arrived they found one man unconscious. It wasn't long before he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A male in one of the suites was suffering from upper body wounds, probably from a knife, according to witnesses in the suite,” Whittaker said.
"It was obvious one of the persons had suffered multiple wounds to the upper body and had been deceased from those wounds."

Another man, suffering from an apparent stab wound to the arm, was found in a different suite.

He was led away in handcuffs to a waiting ambulance and transported to hospital. Officers referred to the man as a person of interest.
"Both the victim and the person of interest are known to police," a spokesman later said.
Investigators also said the two men were both residents of the building and knew each other.

Investigators remained on the scene well into the evening, taping off the entire building and interviewing tenants.

Forensics staff had to work two suites on separate floors.
One tenant told CTV Edmonton that police kept residents from re-entering the building for quite some time.

"It's bloody, there is blood everywhere," Mike Sparrowhawk said. "I haven't been through the building because it's locked down, but apparently blood all the way up to the third floor as well."
Police believe that alcohol and an earlier argument may have played a factor in the incident.

An autopsy later determined that 31-year-old Melvin Fred Beaulieu died from a knife wound to the chest.
Homicide detectives continue to investigate the matter and no charges have been laid.
The person of interest who was detained by detectives for questioning was released. At last word, police said they were not looking for any other suspects.
