Found: Lorraine Julia Adolph

Edmonton police asked for the public's assistance in locating a 68-year-old female Alberta Hospital patient who walked away from the facility on December 4th, 2008.

Lorraine Julia Adolph

Lorraine Julia Adolph was last seen around noon when she stepped outside the hospital at 17480 Fort Road for a cigarette. Police were contacted later that evening and an investigation was begun.

Adolph was descibed as Caucasian, 5-feet 2-inches, 125 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a maroon colored coat, navy blue sweat pants, and a long sleeved burgundy top.

There was some indication that she may have travelled to the Spruce Grove area. Police did not consider her disappearance to be suspicious. A larger image of Adolph can be seen here.

On December 11th, 2008 an Edmonton police police officer searching the grounds of the Alberta Hospital found the body of a woman lying in a building alcove.

The discovery was made at about 8:15 a.m. about 500 yards from where Lorraine Adolph was last seen.

Forensics investigators were then called and an autopsy was set to determine the cause and approximate time of the woman's death. Police said that foul play did not appear to be a factor.

Later in the day Edmonton police confirmed the body found was that of Lorraine Julia Adolph.

When the woman was first reported missing, officers were told the grounds had been searched by Alberta Hospital security. A follow-up inquiry into Adolph's disappearance led to the discovery of her body.

Alberta Health announced it would launch an investigation in the matter.
