The Michael White case also attracted the attention of major media outlets in the U.S., partly because it seemed to parallel the Scott Peterson murder case in California: pretty, pregnant wife, husband charged etc.

Fox Television in New Jersey (Greta Van Susteren of On The Record) reached me at home for an interview. Also featured that evening on Van Susteren's live program was Sorcha McGinnis of the Edmonton Sun, the last reporter to speak with White before police arrested him.
Van Susteren was polite, asking before the interview started if I wanted to be called 'Mr. Christopher' or 'Byron.'
Fox Television in Los Angeles sent a crew to Edmonton to do interviews on the Michael White case.

A female producer with A Current Affair, a syndicated newsmagazine series, called soon after she landed with her cameraman at the International Airport.
White was in his cell and I was on mine, covering a story in the west end, when the producer's call came in. She wanted to meet.
I was at a police stand-off outside a suspected drug house at 149th Street and 107th Avenue. The loud noise of several explosions nearly drowned out our conversation.
"What the hell is that?" she snapped.
"Stun grenades," I yelled. "Why? Are you homesick for L.A.?"
It occurred to me that if Liana White had not been Caucasian and wasn't good-looking, I would not have heard from Fox. For that matter, would many media outlets in Canada have devoted much time to the White case?
I misplaced the business card of the Fox producer and for the love of me I can't recall her name. Had the woman been knock-out gorgeous, well ... things might have been different.
