Michael White's trial was set to begin November 1st, 2006 and was expected to take four weeks.

Prior to the trial beginning, a special jury-selection process called "challenge for cause" would take place.

Potential jurors, drawn from a pool of about 1,500 likely to be summoned, would be screened for bias due to extensive publicity in the case.

White's defence lawyer Larry Anderson said potential jurors would be asked what they have seen, heard or read about the case in the media and whether they could act as impartial judges.

The selection process was set to begin October 23rd.

Developments in the case ocurred October 18th, 2006
