A Clockwork Orange is the 1971 film adaptation of a 1962 novel of the same name, written by Anthony Burgess.
The adaptation was produced, written, and directed by Stanley Kubrick.The film was considered extremely violent at the time of its release and was given the most restrictive audience ratings in jurisdictions that allowed it to be shown.
Superceded by brutal scenes of sexual assault later in the movie, viewers first got a taste of the film's graphic portrayal of violence early in the film when 15-year-old Alex and his "droogs" set upon a homeless man.
